What's in a Name: The Story Behind His Word Designs
Names have a way of gathering meaning over time. When I look back at how His Word Designs came to be, I see more than a business name. I see our family learning to listen, wait, and trust God as He brought separate creative paths into one shared purpose.
Before His Word Designs
Our story began as LifestyleInMe. From our home studio, we crafted thoughtful items and slowly learned what it meant to turn an idea into something another person could hold, use, and enjoy. That season gave us room to experiment, grow our skills, and discover the heart behind the work.
Even as the projects changed, the desire underneath them stayed steady. We wanted what we made to encourage people and reflect the faith that guides our family. We did not yet know what the final name would be, but God was already shaping the direction.
A Family Vision Takes Shape
The next chapter began when Nick felt the discernment to transition our coffee roastery from KopiRoasters to His Word Coffee. That change helped us recognize a larger family vision. Rather than keeping each craft under an unrelated name, we felt called to bring them together under a shared ministry and purpose.
His Word Coffee became part of that vision, and His Word Designs and His Word Bakery found their places alongside it. Each part is different, but the heart is the same: to use the work God has placed in our hands to serve, encourage, and point back to His Word. For us, the name is not simply branding. It is a reminder of whom we want our work to honor.
A Name We Had to Wait For
The path to the name itself required patience. When we first hoped to use His Word Designs, the name was held by someone else, even though it appeared to be inactive. We could not use it as written, so we adapted and moved forward as HisWord Designs, with “HisWord” joined as one word.
It was not our first choice, but it allowed us to keep building while we waited. We watched the name, stayed patient, and continued doing the work in front of us. Then, unexpectedly, an email arrived. The previous owner had decided to release the name.
After all that waiting, we were finally able to secure His Word Designs. Receiving that email felt like a door opening at exactly the right time. The name we had hoped for was now ours, and it fit the family vision that had grown clearer along the way.
