His Word Designs began with a simple hope: to bring Scripture into daily living spaces through handcrafted care, meaningful design, and the natural beauty of wood and slate. What started as a personal passion grew around our family table and into a purpose-driven studio where every piece is made to encourage, uplift, and bless.

A Family Story Rooted in Faith

Where it began

Rachel’s love for drawing, creating, and sharing God’s Word became the heart of His Word Designs. She wanted to make pieces that felt personal, art and gifts that could quietly remind someone of truth while becoming part of an ordinary morning, a family celebration, a new home, or a season that called for encouragement.

As that vision grew, so did the family effort behind it. Nick’s steady support, our daughters’ help at events and in the community, and the joyful company of our studio dogs have all become part of the story.

Our family studio in Washington State is shaped by the character of the Pacific Northwest and by a love for honest materials. We are drawn to expressive wood grain, natural edges, layered slate, and surfaces that carry their own history.

Each piece is handled with intention from the first idea through the final inspection. The goal is not simply to make decor, but to create something that feels warm, lasting, and connected to the person or family who will receive it.

  • Rachel Murphy: Founder, Designer & Creator

    His Word Designs is rooted in Rachel’s passion for faith, creativity, and craftsmanship. With a background in engineering and a deep love for meaningful design, Rachel draws every piece by hand, carefully prepares each material, and personally oversees the engraving and finishing process. From selecting wood and leather to planning product collections and events, every step is intentionally guided to glorify God and encourage others through Scripture-infused art and gifts.

  • Nick Murphy: Co-Founder & Operations Support

    A partner in both life and business, Nick plays a vital role in the success of His Word Designs. From finding and procuring supplies to refining listings and editing product images, his behind-the-scenes work ensures everything is polished and ready to share. His support allows the creative process to thrive, making it possible to bring meaningful designs to life.

  • Rebecca & Nicole: Social Media, Event & Community Support

    Our small business is truly a family effort! On event days, Rebecca & Nicole, our daughters step in to assist with setup, customer engagement, and making sure everything runs smoothly. Whether helping at booths, spreading the word online, or modeling products their support is invaluable in sharing the heart behind His Word Designs.

  • Charlie – The Dedicated Work Buddy

    Charlie is the true CEO at His Word Designs. From his royal perch on the King Charlie couch by the window, he keeps a watchful eye on all creative operations, especially if petting duties are falling behind. If there's a new design in the works, you can bet he's been supervising it from start to finish… with the occasional demand for a head scratch or two.

  • Bailey – The Laid-Back Assistant

    Bailey prefers his creativity served quiet and cozy. While loud sounds aren’t his thing (we’ve got a whole setup to protect his ears from fireworks!), he somehow loves it when the sander’s humming or the laser kicks in. It’s like he senses something cool is being made. You’ll usually find him nearby, supervising the chaos from a safe distance or catching a nap while the machines do the hard work.

  • Maple – The Fashionista & Model Extraordinaire

    Maple is the happy tornado of the studio, always in motion, always in style. She’s mastered the art of product modeling (with just the right amount of mischief) and adds a burst of personality to every workspace moment. Whether striking a pose or just zooming through, Maple makes sure things stay joyful and anything but boring.
